Vancouver Olympics 2010

Friday, May 14th, 2004

As tempting as it is, Madhouse will not be submitting designs for the 2010 Olympic logo design under the current logo competition format.

Effective design is a visual solution and a result of an involved process that responds to established requirements.

Madhouse is in agreement with the position of the Graphic Designers Association of Canada against speculative work. We believe that it is not in the best interest of our profession nor the client. How can professional organizations be asked commit the amount of research, development and work necessary for a project of this scope for the single chance at $25,000 and two tickets to the opening ceremonies? Even the final project award is insignificant compared to the scope of the project. We encourage the Olympic Committee to work through our professional organization to establish a fair design process and equitable compensation.

We are Tolko. - the rallying statement for the 2003 Annual Report that has just come off the press. A strong piece, carefully designed and crafted by Madhouse Creative. From the initial concept, Madhouse worked in collaboration with Swanky Photography, Wayside Press, Cascades and Mohawk Paper Mills to ensure the final printed annual report would be outstanding. Tolko and the partners involved are very pleased with the final results.
