The GiftTRAP Buzz is growing

Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

Madhouse Creative, GiftTRAP, Right to Play, Massive Change, Rentchalets…

The list just keeps growing of the connections that are being made with this yet to be released, board game. With the website launching just 2 weeks ago, there have already been over 700 photo submissions from 28 countries. Talk about a global buzz! GiftTRAP is still looking for photos for the first version. Check out (www.gifttrap.com) to submit your images.

Nick Kellet, the developer of GiftTRAP is excited by the tremendous response. For a game that hasn’t even launched yet it is fantastic to see how the news is spreading.

GiftTRAP definitely isn’t just about getting. Giving is a central theme, whether in the game, or a part of the real social consciousness of those involved in the development of the game. The team at GiftTRAP has made significant commitments to Right to Play (www.righttoplay.com)- a charity dedicated to youth involvement in sports. With so much pre-launch interest initial copies could raise in excess of $150k and will set us on our way to making GiftTRAP Enterprise’s goal to raise a minimum of $1m for Right To Play on the back of the game.

This idea of charity is why Massive Change is getting behind this project. “It’s a cool new social board game. It’s a game of giving and social awareness that is designed to create conversations. There are lots of echoes of Massive Change in it,” says Jill Murray one of the GiftTRAP project leaders and the creator of the Urban room in the Massive Change exhibit (www.massivechange.com).

Madhouse Creative is pleased to be involved with such a strong group. Now the connections are paying off for some of the Madhouse clients as Rentchalets (www.rentchalets.com)has come on board(no pun intended!), and will have their own ‘gift card’ in the first version of the game. Gigi Farrell, owner of Rentchalets (www.rentchalets.com) was eager to be involved, and to have the opportunity to promote her high end chalet rental agency at Big White Ski Resort.

Scott Davis, a partner at Madhouse explains, “We are so glad that Nick brought us this opportunity. It’s great to have been a part of the game design, but even more challenging and exciting to be involved with the marketing, pre-launch and launch activities as well. We’re having a great time and it is a fun ride. Thanks Nick!”

GiftTRAP also want to help other charities gain more visibility so if you work at a charity or have a favourite not-for-profit please submit a gift idea and photo for them. If you own a product or a service you could see it featured in the game please submit that too www.gifttrap.com.

Wayside Press of Vernon awarded silver medal for exceptional print quality.

Bergamot Wellness Centre of Kelowna wanted to step up their approach. A beautiful and sophisticated new brand and some strong collateral material were created by Madhouse Creative.

Bergamot’s print material was just awarded a Silver Medal from the International Gallery of Superb Printing. Wayside Press of Vernon produced the work and was the proud recipient of the award for exceptional print quality.

“We believe in working with local suppliers as much as possible - we live, work and play here, and we want to support the local economy as much as we can.” states Tammy Moore, Principal of Madhouse Creative. “The quality of our local production houses competes with much larger firms and is often more convenient from a working process. This prestigious award just accentuates our commitment. We offer our congratulations and thanks to Richard Finn, Rhonda Hove and the rest of the team at Wayside Press.”

Get caught in the Madhouse GiftTRAP!

Early reviews are suggesting this is going to be big! Now we’re looking for you to be a part of it - send us your ideas and images for gifts.

The game is called GiftTRAP and Nick needs pictures for the game - images of anything that would make perfect gifts (products, experiences, services, etc). Images can be submitted to the GiftTRAP website (www.gifttrap.com), where you can also find more information on the game. Winning images will be featured in the game, along with the winner’s name. Winners also receive a copy of the game.

For the launch in September, the goal is to have 1000 games being played simultaneously… globally. Working with the charity ‘right to play’ we are expecting to make some serious donations to their organization and have pro-athlete support for the event. We are also applying for a Guiness Book of World Records placement.

Brand designed by Madhouse

NEW OKANAGAN “BRAND” UNVEILED AT WHISTLER CONFERENCE
The new logo designed to reflect the new Okanagan Strategic Advantage “brand” was unveiled at the International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC) Western Canadian Conference in Whistler last week. Colleen Bond of the Economic Development Commission, Central Okanagan, joined economic development representatives from throughout the Okanagan Valley at the annual event which was attended by more than 2,500 delegates looking for retail, commercial investment and development opportunities.

The Commission, working in partnership with the Okanagan Science & Technology Council (OSTEC) and the Okanagan Valley Economic Development Society (OVEDS), initiated a major valley branding exercise in 2005 aimed at using consistent local and regional branding messages to market the Okanagan. The logo will be used at numerous trade events, recruitment shows and on marketing materials by the Commission and joint initiatives with the OVEDS.
